balloonaroonies

today was the day for adventure! we got up at the ass crack of dawn to venture out to a park in the cold of the morning and set off on a balloon flight over the city of melbourne. holy crap, are we insane? well…yes, but it turned out to be one of the most awesome insane ideas i’ve ever followed through on. the views were amazing as you will see from the pictures, and it actually wasn’t scary at all – coming from someone who is not exactly ok with massive heights. the roughest part of the ride was the landing, but we were lucky enough to have the best pilot. some of the other balloons that came in after us had it much worse. the evening was capped off with some bbq, beers and my sis’ friends. got to talk some sports and learn a bit about aussie football (which i’ll be seeing later in the week) and hear an interesting debate about how mustard sold here under the name “american yellow” is no substitute for REAL frenches yellow!
